How to use BAND-IT Scru-Lokt Buckle
Select the Correct Band & Buckle
Choose a Scru-Lokt Buckle that matches the width of the BAND-IT® steel banding being used. The Scru-Lokt range is available from 1/4" to 3/4" (6.4–19.1 mm).
Wrap the Band Around the Object
Position the stainless steel band around the component, pipe, cable bundle, pole or other item being secured. The Scru-Lokt system can be used with single- or double-wrapped band configurations.
Position the Buckle
Feed the band through the Scru-Lokt Buckle and position the buckle at the required location. Use a suitable BAND-IT® banding tool to apply and tension the band.
Apply the Required Tension
Using the appropriate BAND-IT® tool, tension the band securely around the object. Unlike a standard BAND-IT clamp, the tool is not rolled over when using the Scru-Lokt buckle.
Secure the Set Screw
Once the required tension has been applied, insert the set screw into the Scru-Lokt Buckle and tighten it using the hex key supplied with the buckle package. This locks the band securely in place.
Leave a Band Stub for Retensioning
If the clamp may need to be retensioned or reused, BAND-IT recommends leaving approximately a 3-inch (7.5 cm) band stub so that the tool can grip the band again later. The remaining stub can be folded underneath the clamp if required.
Check the Finished Clamp
After tightening the set screw, inspect the completed clamp to ensure the buckle and band are properly positioned and securely fastened. The Scru-Lokt design allows the clamp to be retensioned when required, making it particularly useful for adjustable or temporary clamping applications.
